Our History

IP UtiliNET, LLC, an Atlanta-based private company, was founded in 2009 by U.S. Navy Veteran Dave Quinn, a former Director of Vertical Marketplaces, Airports and Seaports at Motorola. While serving on a submarine in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Quinn visualized a future where communities would no longer need to be tethered to legacy communications networks and utility systems but would function independently of the grid by using a system of private networks, stored energy and renewable resources managed on a central platform. He reasoned that similar systems would work well in developing countries and began an extensive period of study and testing to define system mechanics and logistics.

Today, Mr. Quinn along with IP UtiliNET staff, design and implement systems which integrate technology, renewable energy solutions, security and process automation to reduce budgetary consumption and benefit the environment through reduced grid dependence and use of renewables.  IP UtiliNET offers service support in 145 countries and 392 global cities and actively partners with Phoenix Communities and REACH educational campuses to provide training and generate new jobs in the growing field of renewable energy and Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology.
